It’s Time to Stock up People!

It’s Time to Stock up People!

Ciao!!

The Holidays are rapidly approaching( 2 weeks until thanksgiving, people!!!!) and it is now the time to prepare for surprise visitors. While all visitors are a pleasant surprise, it is always a bit disappointing when you offer them something to drink or eat and you don’t have a whiskey neat or anything to munch on other than your already opened bag of tostitos. The best way to avoid this is to come up with a little plan for the holidays.

Pick your favorite hors d’oeuvre from the store, stock up, that way you can always present something fresh for your guests! You can always serve them on a marble or agate platter to add a level of decadence with ease… Who doesn’t feel luxurious when they are served cheese and crackers on a glistening piece of gilded azure agate? We have a variety of agate platters and other serving situations that are the perfect addition to your own collection or someone elses if you’re looking for a hostess gift!

The bar is probably the hardest thing to prepare for the holiday season. If you entertain you know you usually should have many different options for your guests. This is time consuming and not entirely necessary. While it most definitely is an option, you could also make a house cocktail. Come up with a simple recipe that is inspired by one of your favorite drinks and give it a little twist with some spices or bitters. This creative touch will be appreciated by all of your guests and you will have the drink making down to a science by the end of the season 😉

Here’s our Cocktail for the season:

A spin on a Hot Toddy – The Hot Wally after Margaret’s puppy Wally 🙂

2 oz. Brandy, Dark Rum or Single-Malt Scotch Whiskey

1 tsp. Honey

1 large piece of lemon

A sprinkle of cinnamon and a Cinnamon stick to garnish

hot-toddy

Prepare a snifter by rinsing it with boiling water and pouring the water out. Add the honey and lemon peel, pour in an ounce of hot water and stir until the sweetener has dissolved. Add the spirits and top off with another ounce or two of boiling water. Stir and Garnish!

xx
